Not very effective for the growing number of people who only use the Internet to watch video and play games, and never open a web browser, don’t even own a computer or tablet, only use their phone for texting and to run social media apps.
I am still a bit shocked when customers say the only way they have to check if their Internet is working is to try and watch something on Netflix, because that’s all they use it for. But it’s becoming more and more common, and as they say, I’m “shocked but not surprised”. Soon I will expect it. You had to be right forever, everyone else only had to be right once. Centurylink intentionally blocked their customers' internet access to display an ad recently. These days if something doesn’t work on phones, it doesn’t work for most people, and if it also doesn’t work in Chrome, it’s pretty much useless.
