I ran into one production facility that was out of power in an industrial area
of town. The power company could not easily upgrade them for less than a huge
fortune.
A local company came in and did some harmonic filter magic and now there was
more power available for more machines.
I think it also helped their power bill.

Ha... client is El Paso Electric at Newman power plant...I doubt they really
care...these are for the ponds between plant and largest solar farm in
area..the ponds are designed to keep the water from seeping into ground water.

I agree. Cleaning up power I can understand but facing money? You are paying
for watts so you are just losing money on the inefficiency of the transformer.

A Google search comes up with a device from Legend Power Systems that is
basically a step down transformer, claiming that by reducing the AC voltage you
will save power. That sounds like B.S. to me, unless all your loads are
incandescent light bulbs.

What does a harmonizer do? Cut down on harmonics? I know that in some
situation harmonics can cause a power factor type of problem to the power
company.

Yes...outer seal is bonded to ground inside pipe....first time we have
done it this way...this enclosure has compenents we have never installed before
like a harmonizer.

Thanks. First time using the new Phoenix Contact managed
switch...will share experience once we get things going... Some extra grounding
was called for as per engineers...
