It's always + to + in all cases. You'd never go + to -.
There are competing standards about what /color/ wires you should use,
but it's always plus to plus.
The difference is only in whether there's a connection to ground.
The main thing for us is don't mix the two. If you have +V and -V
devices put them on separate power supplies or use DC-DC converters to
isolate them.

So + on the Power supply to + on the radio,
and - on the power supply to - on the radio?

No. No. No.
The 48 volt supply is probably floating. Meaning neither + or - is
tied to chassis ground.
You must check this first. If it has its negative terminal
electrically connected to the chassis it will make it very difficult
to power a -48 radio. If it has its + terminal tied to ground they
you are golden.
The -48 radio wants either a float supply or one that has its +
terminal tied to ground.
But since it specifies -48 that means internally the chassis is tied
to +.

Subject: [AFMUG] Cambium 820 DC Power Sanity Check
I have a 48VDC Power supply with + and - Terminals
The 820 Radio has a DC Power port with + and - Terminals
The 820 radio is expecting -48V
To get -48V to the 820 Radio
The + of the power supply goes to the - of the radio
and the - of the power supply goes to the + of the radio?
