Yeah, I agree, but when they not only don't have a practical interface that can be used on any device, but also remove basic functionality like being able to manually set the channel (because people apparently aren't smart enough to be trusted with such power), it earns a whole new level of hatred.
Annoyingly, most of the several hundred dollar multi-unit "whole home WiFi systems", which everybody seems to think they need now, seem to do that.
