Might check out Sure-Fi. I saw them at a roadshow last week. Actually looks
like a neat solution for low bandwidth control.

I built a remote control to turn on the air flow from a 175 PSI 375 CFM
compressor so that I don?t have to have someone manning a compressor when
blowing sponges through miles of duct.

Using Baofeng and Retevis VHF murs frequencies with DTMF control.
Not terribly happy with the range. It is only reliable for 2-3 miles at
most.
Going to get some 5/8ths wave mag mount for the vehicle but not sure that is
going to help all that much.

Could try UHF but I doubt it will be much better.

Anyone know of a radio switch type of thing that works will cell phones?
