As long as it can talk to a wifi signal somewhere you can turn it on and off from any phone. So I will put my iphone with it in the box I have made for my compressor remote control. It will communicate via the personal hotspot. Then others that have the app can control the compressor. Using Baofeng and Retevis VHF murs frequencies with DTMF control. Not terribly happy with the range. It is only reliable for 2-3 miles at most. Going to get some 5/8ths wave mag mount for the vehicle but not sure that is going to help all that much. Could try UHF but I doubt it will be much better.
