We also get a bunch of stations OTA. However, we have pretty much gone
to the 15-minute delay model. if there is something we want to watch, we
pre-record it, and start watching it from the recording. The DVR+ lets
us skip over the commercials easily. If we watch the "news", what we're
really interested in is the weather. We know about when that starts, and
skip right to it. That way, we don't need to endure Joe Schmoe running
into a telephone pole in Poughkeepsie; as if it was actual news.

But sometimes you don't want to have to search for content, just take

Or you want the local news. Or you want SNL in real time.
Or grandkids are over and you put on PBS. Etc. I don't watch much
OTA but I like the number of channels I can watch for free. Just like
my free parking sticker that allows me to park anywhere in Salt Lake
City for free. I don't use it much but it makes me smile to think
about it.

Silly people, aincha ever heard of an antenna....
I have a permanent antenna set up for OTA, but the only time we actually
watch live TV is sports (since broadcast quality is better). I only
follow hockey though so even that use case is minimal. Otherwise it's
really just too inconvenient having to follow a schedule, and the
novelty quickly dies off at the first commercial break.
