Isn’t the deal you get a replacement battery with the same or less miles on it? That still doesn’t quite answer what if you have so many miles on it that no battery would last that long. Maybe they get to feature you in an ad as the guy who put a million miles on a Tesla and they still come out ahead. Like the 3 million mile Volvo man.

I guess maybe if it's bad enough to blow the fuse, it would just drain the pack rather than blowing the fuse. $20k sounds a bit high to replace the battery pack... prices I've heard were more like $12-15k for a model S, but the good thing is, that the battery has an 8 year unlimited mileage warranty, so very few of them are actually out of warranty at this point.
