I'm just guessing, but perhaps the quality\shape of the actual transmission? 
Some cut off at the edges much more quickly than others.

Just wondering: why does an MG license need to be for a specific model 
of transmitter? I would have thought if you were predicting 
interference you'd care more about the antenna and the tx power.
