Timeline was pretty good. The time travel explanation is like "quantum
foam *mumble mumble* and you come out in the past!" So science content
is similar to Star Trek.
Chrichton did go into solid detail about the language, clothing, HEMA,
and other aspects of the time period. I really enjoyed it.
I do think they had some kind of plan to make a medieval theme park, but
I don't recall why time travel was a part of it. I can't believe
anybody would send tourists to the past. Some jackass from Florida
would kick the wrong speck of dust and undo the whole universe because
"Chaos *mumble* infinity *mumble* permutations *mumble* paradox!"
In any case, the movie with the same title is utterly stupid. Do not
watch.

the other end slightly rearranged. Multiple trips and the
reassembly errors added up. I also seem to remember the premise
was that people were bored with all the high tech and virtual
