How many greats in that? The furthest back I've been so far is
back to around 1420, and I counted 15 greats.
We occasionally watch Henry Louis Gates Finding Your Roots, and one guy who thought he was Japanese, turned out to have roots in Korea. Koreans keep insane fmaily records, and this guy turned out to be Korean royalty going back a couple thousand years.

There were essentially no "laws" making any sort of regulation toward immigration prior to ~~ 1875.
