No donations, you pay a decent membership fee. They provide lobbying for ILECs
as well as a nice 401K system. Valuable organization. And the majority of
their members are rural telcos providing FTTH.

Looks like another "self-help" group. they help themselves to donations and
call themselves a non-profit. the one thing that would help a rural community
is a WISP and they don't have that topic on their website

They also used to negotiate with content providers to allow members to deploy
CATV. I still have an account with them but there is no money in it.

Yes. Many rural LEC’s use NTCA for retirement/savings and 401k for their
employees. Basically a large advocacy organization, kinda like WISPA.

I was reading my old home town news and heard about a presentation being
given to a local economic group by Shirley Bloomfield, the CEO of "NTCA - The
Rural Broadband Association". They say they've been around since 1969, so I
assume that the T in NTCA stands for telecom, but nothing on their web site
actually spells out what NTCA actually represents.

What I'm wondering is why I've never heard of them before?
