We pulled 2 circuits to the top, one behind the UPS and one not. Then if I ever wanted to put in a cabinet with HVAC, or run some sort of motor load, I wouldn't have to worry about the UPS handling it. Both just come out to Male plugs at the bottom. Site has been running for 9 years without issue. I've never tried a powerline behind a UPS. Good to know that it works.

we currently will stay AC up top mostly to various meanwell DC power supplies. Everything that is AC is internally DC now anyway, with the exception of the fans, but those can be swapped. Nate, sounds like youre already doing pretty much the same as us so ill take it as probably a non issue.

I have an ethernet over powerline adapter on a 100' extension cord off the APC output to get the management card into the network up top. it seems to not mind square wave for the multiplexing.

If you're running AC up the tower, there are probably wide voltage
DC transformers (100-240v) for everything up top that would clean
it up anyway. We have a 200' Grain leg where we have an APC 750
UPS at the bottom. 120vac on #12 wire to the top and nothing has
ever complained. There are several Meanwell AC/DC transformers at
the top for 24v/48V, along with normal POE injectors
(ubnt/cambium). I've never measured the voltage drop, but it has
    never been an issue.

Are you doing DC up the grain leg or AC?

It's a square wave which a transformer would clean up. The
drop wouldn't change and a buck-boost would up the voltage
        for the end-point.

We are considering moving our APCs down to the bottom of
some of the grain elevators we have our enclosures up top

        or indifferent.

The concern i have is the voltage drop. The output of APC
UPS as I understand is not pure sine wave, but a square
wave. Will this impact voltage drop calculations?
