Once a winter or two ago, when trying to get my Leaf out of my garage after a heavy snowfall, I was rocking it back and forth. Went into full throttle uncommanded reverse. Had to hit the shut down button. I reported it to Nissan and the NTSB place for cars. They never replied. Never happened again until this morning. Cruise control, slowing to get into a left turn at a left turn light. Went into full throttle forward, the brakes were just BARELY - BARELY able to bring it to a stop part way through the intersection. Had to hit the kill switch. Reticent to wake it up to reverse out of the intersection I took my chance. When the left turn light came on, I started it and put it into drive, again took off full throttle. I was pulling into my company location and was worried I was going to put it through the wall. WOW! Nissan web site says when this happens to shift into neutral and then kill. I have a hard time finding neutral at a car wash let alone when faced with an immediate full blown in flight emergency.
I love Leafs. I have had 4 of them I think. Scary. Hope it is a known problem with a known solution. Otherwise Imma gonna trade it.
