Hi TJ, What state is the SM in right now? Does it boot up on the older load? Have you tried a factory reset yet? What was the upgrade failure? Was it the GUI indicating an upgrade failure during a normal upgrade or did you have some sort of a power failure during the upgrade? Are you able to access the radio via its default or fallback IP?
A lot questions before determining its not recoverable and going the RMA route :) Alternately, you can contact our support engineers for this as you'll have to go through them to determine the RMA anyway.
