You sound like you're trying to excuse it for not being there instead of
just embracing a good feature that works?  Yes, there are ways around, BUT,
the Canopy AP-SM proxy *just works*.  No thinking about how to get to that
SM is required, if you can get to the AP then you can get to the SM - end
of story.
