He is talking about 430 which may go a bit farther, although now with MIMO-A mode they are about equal.
Part of the problem is the 450 AP won’t let you set the xmt power for max allowable EIRP with a low gain antenna. To maximize distance, I might use 450 instead of 430, and a 10 MHz channel in 5.7. 450 starts out with 6 to 8 times the capacity of FSK, so even cutting the channel width in half, you still have a 3 to 4 times capacity increase, and you gain 3 dB of system margin which should get you out to 5 miles instead of 3-4 like Sean says. You could even go to a 5 MHz channel. If you find the omni isn’t giving you enough capacity, maybe you have a cluster of high bandwidth users in one direction and you add 1 sector. Eventually if you get enough subs, you can fully sectorize. There was a rumor from AF about a Lite (10 SM) AP from Cambium, upgradable with a license key. If true, this would make sectors an easier decision. Although you still have to buy antennas for them. But in this case, I have to. Plus, we only have 25 Customers at this site on a FSK 5.2 AP. And I am looking for the same coverage area (roughly 8 mile radius). The FSK does surprising well on a 9 dbi L-Com antenna at 8 miles. 1st column is uptime. I rebooted the AP yesterday. Yesterday I installed the AP with a UBNT 10 dbi OMNI and the Range sucked. -82 at 3.1 miles. It's what I had on hand. I am looking for twice the distance at -79 or better. This is a SUPER Rural area with no noise. thanks Sam -- -- Sam Lambie Taosnet Wireless Tech. 575-758-7598 Office www.Taosnet.com
