Gpon is 2.5/1.25 Gepon is 1.25/1.25 (ethernet based) AKA EPON I think that GEPOn OLT sfps should be caopatible with mikrotik because they follow Ethernet standards

I like the GPON approach vs the P2P active fiber network, you going to have way less on the amount of fibers in the ground going from your central office to the individual neighborhoods and if you have cuts in between those two that's a whole lot less fiber to be splicing back together.
