Well someone sent a picture from the manual that says “either” basically… but I
don’t think most of us are good at reading manuals… we would rather figure it
out on our own ;-D

So why the spec sheet says -48VDC… as I said I can only point to practice and
that many of our other radios are bonded to the chassis. Lumina is kinda an
exception to the rule (why I have no idea).

I’ll never forget that is how I was told to install my first licensed link,
alone (roof top to roof top), a Stratex XP-4 in 38GHz. I was given the TX
information, and told to “figure it out” even though lots of the people around
me had installed lots of these links. Programming the IDU with buttons, was
well, goofy. But I’ll never forget it (installing that first link).

Probably because the next question is "Is that negative or positive?" On the
other hand I agree. If the ground is floating, and I should but I don't
remember, they could list it as either.

So, why not say "48 VDC" and leave it at that? If you add a polarity then you
also imply ground reference.

I'll confirm, Lumina is a floating ground.

We say -48VDC since that is the telco standard (and some of our other radios
are -48VDC only).

I thought all the SAF stuff was +48, but the CFIP Lumina FODU datasheet says
-48? Is this the built-in DC-DC converter thing? I'm confused.
