Pretty much. You just either had to go in to the store to place your order or call it in. Sears used to have lifetime warranty on lots of stuff that they sold too (besides Craftsman tools). I remember my parents buying “toughskin” jeans for us and being able to get them replaced if they got holes in the knees.
