Not sure about the most recent one. I can see it on a scan, but I haven't found it connected to my system. I need to go by with a CPE and narrow it down.
The previous two times it was a customer's router. As soon as I unplugged it the problem went away. Brought it back to my office to see what is going on and the problem came with it. I'm unsure if it affected 5GHz or not. It didn't appear to, but there are a lot more channels to play with. Changing the firmware to DD-WRT cured the problem on one, the other just lost WIFI for a minute rather than block everyone else after DD-WRT. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rory Conaway To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, August 03, 2015 11:22 AM Subject: Re: [AFMUG] Netgear routers The Netgear incompatibility explains my trip to the car wash place this weekend. Kept getting kicked off. I also got complaints from a competitor concerning our airGateway's taking out his neighbor's outdoor wireless PTMP system. Is this Netgear person one of your users or just someone in the area? I have also seen Netgear incompatibilities with Lenovo ultrabooks with Win8.1 and Intel 802.11ac where all WiFi clients are kicked off and the router has to be power cycled, but not affecting other APs in the area AFAIK. I've had two of them do that and just found one running near a rural AP that is having trouble. Every five minutes the entire band is useless for one minute, they lose WIFI and everyone near them loses access or nearly loses access, regardless of the channel.
