Could be that the developers thought it could be done, could be that 
integrating with AirMax was going to be difficult.  Only the Shadow knows……

From what I hear GPS is a sore subject at Ubnt.  Understandably.

I don't see how Cambium got it so easily with atheros chips and Ubnt can't 
figure it out with the Canopy team...

They had one at WISPAPALOOZA.  It is like 4 1/2' tall by 1' wide.  A beast of a
