In my experience the hybrid singlemode + 18AWG stranded copper cables are
4x the cost per meter compared to running 1" liquidtight nonmetallic flex
conduit and putting 24-strand loose tube riser cable in it ($1/meter or
thereabouts) alongside regular 12 to 20 conductor 18AWG alarm system
stranded cable.

If you do your own fiber cable you can choose between tight
buffered/breakout and regular loose tube, depending on what type of panel
you're going to terminate it in on the top end.
