Saw a thing on the interwebs yesterday about how to not crash your drone the
first time you use it.
Apparently they have something similar to an E Stop button that turns on the
autopilot and flies them back to the starting poitn.

FHSS maybe? Or possibly small channel size since it needs distance, not
throughput.

My nephew got a new DJI Phantom 3 Pro model drone, and in the process of
setting it up, I was trying to find the WiFi frequencies/protocols it was using
to communicate between the controller and drone. Nothing showed up in my
sniffer, so I wonder if it's using 802.11 at all.

  The specs (http://wiki.dji.com/en/index.php/Phantom_3_Professional) say it's
using 2400-2483 MHz, but is only 100 mW EIRP. They claim 2 KM range, but he
lost control of it in his admittedly WiFi congested neighborhood.
