A few years ago, we hired a Russian engineer on an H1B visa. (I didn’t my business partner did, he is a russianphile (if there is such a word)). I was out in the lab one day and there was a bottle of everclear on the work bench. I told him that in the U.S. most companies don’t allow you to drink at work. He said it was for cleaning circuit boards.
I told him about 90% isopropyl that you can get at the drug store. I don’t think he ever did fully use up the bottle of everclear. Have to admit, it is probably a bit better than 90% iso. I hate it when folks want to use 70%.
