The whole 6700 and then 6900 series of cards makes sense for an ISP that
already heavily uses 6500 chassis/power supplies/fantrays and has dozens of
sup720 based nodes in production... Or even a lot of old 6506e with sup32
to upgrade. It's an obvious and less complicated upgrade path.

But I would not choose it as a new solution (or "new used/refurb") if I was
shopping for a new router platform to use for the next half decade. They're
working with the limitations of a backplane and cooling design from 15
years ago. It is amazing that the sup2t+6900 combo can do what it does when
you look at the platform's origin not as a router but as a pure L2 Ethernet
switch (sup1a, etc).
