I work by them all the time. I have never felt any warmth so thats good. I
tried 4 times to make a baby and had 3 kids so that still works but it worked
to well :)

I have some site owners concerned about the output from my hardware. I've
explained how low the power output is on unlicensed hardware, but showing them
empirically would be nice.

What 5ghz gear are you planning on being around that is going to be high enough
output to necessitate a safety meter?

I supposed a better way to ask: Is it typical to need cellular systems turned
off when working behind the sectors, above / below them, or in front of them?

I'm looking for some general experiences so I can plan my possible installation
and have a sense of what to expect. I do not intend to use your experiences to
determine whether I use PPE at all. This will be my first experience near
higher power hardware, and I want to be appropriately prepared.

Separately, I've been looking for an RF Safety Monitor, but I'm having trouble
finding one that will include the 5 GHz range. Does such a wide-range device
exist at a reasonable price?

Thanks - Chris

A quick and dirty method is whether or not you can feel warmth or heat. If so
you may be getting damaged. I feels like a heat lamp. If you feel any warmth

It isn't an emergency your are going to die go to the ER type of thing, but
certain parts of your body are more susceptible to biological heating than
others. I still cannot find backup for this, but I was told many years ago
that the lens of your eye is one of the most susceptible organs.

As I recall the story, WWII Sailors would get warm in front of radar antennas
while standing watch. They later developed cataracts.

Subject: [AFMUG] Safe or Not - Working Near Mobile Phone Systems

I'm hoping to do some work in a steeple that has cell phone equipment. I
understand there are currently 6 sectors, and will soon be 9 sectors for mobile
phone service located behind the louvers.

I would like to assess which work locations require disabling the mobile system
(if any), and if there are specific exposure times associated with such work
locations.

1 - Level above existing installation.
2 - Same level as mobile system, but behind sectors.
3 - In front of sectors, outside the structure.

I appreciate any help or guidance. Thank you - Chris
