FYI, it appears I got lucky and it was the PIDU. From: Sean Heskett Sent: Friday, March 18, 2016 7:18 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AFMUG] PTP500/600 recovery mode likely cause?
It's most likely the cable or grounding but it could be the pidu. I would verify good cabling and grounding and bring a spare pidu to try. I can't remember what the recovery button does exactly, I think it's in the manual. -Sean On Friday, March 18, 2016, Ken Hohhof <[email protected]> wrote: Those of you who have experienced a radio stuck in recovery mode, what is the most likely cause? PIDU? Cable? Radio? I had one that has been in service for 5+ years do this earlier this year after a power outage. But logging into it and clicking on Reboot from the recovery mode web gui brought it back to life. Now it has done it again, but it just reboots back into recovery mode. I have a spare PIDU that I will try. No signs of water in the cable but I can get someone to climb next week and we can check that. I'm afraid though that the radio may be the mostly likely cause. At that point it might be easier to just replace the link with AF5X than to send the radio somewhere for repair or buy a used one. Also, does anyone know what pins the PIDU shorts (or whatever it does) when you push the remote recovery mode button?
