Yeah,
We had to also in our Digital II class. With my physics and AC/DC
circuit analysis I had a full load that year.
I always wanted to try new stacks or additional registries to try and
increase speeds of the math of the CPU, but was so limited to only an 8
bit bus, which was another
project I was trying to do with a digital processor that had 12bit for a
bus.
I still have the PDP12 bit trainer for it.

My last year in college a guy made a replica 8080 processor from
complete TTL devices.
The 5v supply it took to run it was massive LOL
I helped in design of the 5v supply.
