[AFMUG] OT. Fender Precision Bass

Found a cool Fender Precision Bass with serial number 267259....quick
peruse of Interweb says it American made in 69!!  They want 400 for it but
they won't let me remove neck to verify if it is a real P Bass.... If it is
these can fetch up 4200.00!!   Rattle from frets 13 up... Volume pot is
noisy but nice tone even with old flat wound heavy gauge strings.
Thinking of buying it and checking it out.  It's body is worn pretty
good... Any experts on vintage gear pass me some advice?  Tak
