Is there any equipment manufacturer still selling broadband over powerlines equipment?

I tried a cheap netgear homeplug kit to get data from a utility closet to an apartment 3 floors apart. It works (with weak signal) in the hallway just outside the apartment, but doesn't connect from inside the apartment itself. I get a similar result going the other way....with the one homeplug unit in the apartment, I can get a weak signal on an outlet down the hall from the utility closet.

It seems like if I'm that close, then maybe just a better piece of equipment would make it happen.

This is a temporary and freebie thing, so before you tell me how much homeplug sucks, just be aware that I only need it to work for a little while. I could run ethernet if I was willing to cut handholes in the drywall and patch them back up....but I'm not.
