Paul, I have done this on 5 different towers this summer and it works great. The camera I am using a PTZ with 30x optical zoom Dahua brand model# DH-SD50A230IN-HC-S2 Its a Chinese camera but the housing is rugged and rated for IP67. You can pick them up for anywhere from $400-600 online. Here is a video I made from a 130' tower with this camera. In the video I am controlling the camera from 15 miles away sitting at my office.
