Not sure I still have any of those sondes around. The potting looked like
beeswax in color. Hard plastic. Not brittle.
Tried:
Acetone
Gasoline
MEK
Paint thinner
Paint remover
Alcohol
Xylene
Water
Propylene
Freon
Mold cleaner
trichlorobenzine (or whatever dry cleaning fluid used to be)
Strong acids
Strong bases

Tough stuff.

I’ve had a mason jar labelled “M-Pyrol” in my basement since around 1985 that I
got from a vendor for dissolving the potting compound on thickfilm hybrid
circuits. Probably not good anymore, not sure how to dispose of it.

Yeah, better than a photo of my mug.

Actually there have been a few times when I did work with test tubes.

Trying to melt off the potting compound from the transmitter used in horizontal
directional drilling machines.

I never did find a solvent or other compound that would dissolve that plastic.

I'm just curious if you actually work with test tubes and pipettes when
designing surge protectors? Or is that just to make it look all "sciency"?

  Got it, thanks.

I am hopeful the schematics and images all look good on phones and other
devices.
I am only using a normal desktop with a very large screen. I have never done
a web page before where I worried about all the devices.

Looks good, only comment is the first line of the third paragraph:
"the response was from the group was" probably should be
"the response from the group was"...
