You could replace the 2.4 FSK with a cheap 802.11 AP like maybe a Bullet, on the same omnis. Then set the SSID to an ad for your service ending with your phone number. Don’t actually use it for service, just send an ad in the beacons. I’ve seen it done. As long as beacons are being sent at the lowest modulation, it will show up on peoples phones and laptops despite the interference.

I am converting a lot of PMP100 2.4ghz in my network over to 5ghz PMP450 and I am wondering if there is any benefit to leaving the old PMP100 2.4ghz AP's up in the air and still transmitting? Basically the 2.4ghz band around here is -60 noise floor all over the place because there are so many Omni's in my network. Only way its all working is because of the SYNC. Should they be left up and turned on even if no clients are associated to them to keep the frequencies tied up so nobody starts using them? I think the last offer that was made to us for 900 FSK SMs was like $10/board. We're sitting on probably more than 100 right now. Maybe a little more for P10 and P11 5.7's. Nobody wants 5.4 FSK. I think Paul said he has hundreds. I have somewhere in the realm of 70 SMs that we've already taken down and won't be redeploying, they're P9s - P11s (I have tons of P8s too). I'll be gathering more (probably double that) in the coming months out towards the spring. There will also be somewhere in the realm of 120 900mhz PMP100 SMs before the new year. Is anyone still buying these up or have we missed the used merch gravy train? =D Regards, -- Samuel Kirsch, Network Support Plexicomm - Internet Solutions | www.plexicomm.net <http://www.plexicomm.net> Office: 1.866.759.4678 x109 <tel:1.866.759.4678%20x109> | Fax: 1.866.852.4688 <tel:1.866.852.4688> Emergency Support: 1.866.759.9713 <tel:1.866.759.9713> | <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] -- If you only see yourself as part of the team but you don't see your team as part of yourself you have already failed as part of the team.
