I think you are FOS on the main battle tank point. Those tanks were were shredded last time they went head to head. Their current version is better than their old junk but is yet to be battle tested. Those last versions didn't live up to any of their hype. Range was shit, half of the M1, and they got shredded by the M1 as a result. They were supposed to be able to shoot on the move, they couldn't. They were supposed to load twice as fast as the M1 with their auto loader, They were slow and jammed often. Their armor was supposed to be superior, they popped like those cheap soda cans dropped on concrete.
So, while the specs look like it should be one of the best, my bet is the current version is crap too. Germany's tank is likely the best tank in the world but there aren't that many of them. My suspicion is that the CIA new their stuff was crap but narrated a picture that was more scary as to fuel demand for a wide variety of military and espionage activity.
