I haven't had too many problems with the regular cheap-o patch cables, like the 16" LMR240 cables that Cambium sells. Yes, you can see the plating flake off. I usually mate them fairly tight one time, back them off, take a can of compressed air and blow everything out, then fully hand tighten and seal.

I've had a handful of 450 APs leak now, so I quit doing the heat-shrink sealing. Too much of a pain in the ass to tear apart when they leak. I've had regular silicone-rubber tape wrapped APs leak too, so it's not the shrink not sealing. Two I know of, the radio cover was the culprit. Others have been the Gore vent getting blown in or deteriorated, or not properly installed in the first place.

The cheaper ones are actually die cast. Real crap. Truly machined ones are worth the expense.

If you ever plan on taking them on and off, spend the money for PIM rated. N connectors tend to throw off spurs when taken on and off. ThePIM rated are made from a solid block and not plated so they don't shed chips into the connector.

Any recommendations for pre-made high quality pigtails for use on
    5 GHz with the A5c?

    Thank you - Chris
