just a basic air router, dump a script in it that changes the management
ports, drops a few firewall rules that only allows management from our
network, drops from everywhere else. disables the reset button, puts in our
password, enable/disables a few things, puts a DMZ to an IP out of the DHCP
pool. the only things we do manually is pull the MAC from the BMU in
powercode and assign it to the customer in powercode, set the ESSID, and
set the WPA key to the numbers off the manufacturer sticker (available
remotely in the GUI) set their name and tell them if they want to dick with
the wireless, they can replace the router with their own.
Now that we have serverplus going we are considering options since they'll
do the support, a passthrough cost isn't all that valuable since providing
"managed" anything adds a layer of issues and hassle (my internet is down.
Everytime I go out to the barn it goes out...... how far is your barn, and
where is the router?... the router is in the basement and the barn is on
the other side of the apple trees only about 1500 feet away)
