You better make sure that's not a -24 system. And yeah, don't know why you'd need a transfer switch in a DC application. Those old telco alternator-rectifier DC generators are designed to monitor battery voltage and start up at the right time. They're parallel operation that charges the batts and runs the load until utility comes back. If you look hard enough, I'm sure you can still find the compact -48 Kohler's that run on propane or NG. I think Vz used a lot of them.

Its output is 27.6v @ 6Kw

I am using forrest's Generator control to help with a homemade transfer switch.

The configuration will be a little complex on doing this but I can make it work with little effort.
