Sounds like more buzzwords meant to be the greatest thing ever, but will likely
be looked back at as a mediocre step, just like all of the others.

A couple of notes on this...

The entire system is built around speed, interactivity, and quick app
development.

The OS and apps use Google's Flutter SDK, which produces cross platform code
that runs on Apple IOS and Android. High performance apps are 120hz refresh
capable. Graphics are rendered via the Vulkan renderer, which means games and
graphics heavy apps will be easy to port between things like an Apple tablet, a
Linux desktop, a Windows desktop, an Android phone, etc.

Actually, yes. They're not far off from moving on from Android it seems.

They are, but seeing Android 8.0 tells me exactly how much of an upgrade it is
over 7.1 or 6.3.

Seeing Oreo doesn't have any bearing on its comparison to Ice Cream Sandwich,
other than it's later. They're over half way through the alphabet. Are they
done with Android soon?

I get code names. I don't get public reliance on code names.

I'm more of a numbers guy, but I'm pretty sure they are alphabetical.

No. 4.x, 5.x, 6.x. 7.x, etc. are easy to remember. What comes after 6? 7. What
comes after Jelly Bean? Was it KitKat, Lollipop or Froyo?

It's easy to remember that way, though.

Ahhh. Thanks. In Nougat, data saver was a "recommendation". Apparently it's now
required in Oreo.

Updated my Android phone to Oreo the other day, and there is a new icon on the

Anyone know what this icon is?
