Yeah I know wholesale solar is not the best price but if you are starting from zero they are very helpful and knowledgeable.
You can for sure shop around. I just know Gino is probably in a crunch and needs to get something going and their website had a mostly complete package of what I'd tell him to buy. If you just buy panels, batteries and a charge controller you'll quickly learn that you need a lot more to make it safe to work on and monitor/manage. Also it'd help a lot if we had the load size in watts. But that probably varries by tower site quite a bit. I know Our smallest tower is around 100watts but our largest is over 1000watts. Lastly Gino if you need boots on the ground to install the solar (or wireless) I can probably be available after nov 2nd. -Sean On Wed, Oct 4, 2017 at 8:32 PM Chuck McCown <[email protected]> wrote: > Affordable solar can beat the price. > > *From:* Sean Heskett > *Sent:* Wednesday, October 04, 2017 9:08 PM > *To:* [email protected] ; [email protected] > *Subject:* Re: [AFMUG] Good - Cost Effective MPPT Solar Controller? > > Hey Gino, > > Since you are probably limited by time i didn't want to hold things up > while i dig up all the photos and schematics. so to get you started i'd > suggest a system like this: > > > https://www.wholesalesolar.com/1890130/wholesale-solar/complete-systems/1.04-kw-watt-telecom-off-grid-dc-24-48v > > we use this supplier a lot and they are great to work with and their > prices are decent. > > they provide the schematics for how it all gets connected and if you get 5 > hours of sunlight per day (which you should in PR even on Dec 21st) then > this system will power a 200W tower just fine. if your tower uses 300W > then just add 2 more panels (and another 30A breaker) and you can still use > the same morning star 60A charge controller.
