So, now you've all speculated a bit, and I've had some sleep (up way too late working on getting this out the door)....
Yes, George, the 450i and 450m supports both positive and negative voltages. It has a fully isolated power supply. Yes, Sean, this is a 450m on a short cable, and no subscribers. I plan on putting a single SM on this this evening, along with a very long cable (>100m) to verify no issues. I also have tests of these in the field with more subs, but this is the first one I get to play with on the bench (borrowed it from the WISP). For everyone's information: The board in question will be fixed-pinout and is designed to provide Cambium Style sync over power to the 450i and 450m AP's. It will also power up other devices which are ok with or need an all-4-pair power arrangement and are ok with the cambium power arangement. This board will be released for purchase on or shortly after January 1st, and either shipping immediately or shortly thereafter. Shortly thereafetr will follow a jumper configurable either polarity injection board. It is still yet to be seen whether or not we'll be able to do the older style Canopy-stle sync over power with this, I'm hopefull we will. This board will not do the newer cambium style sync. The switching should in theory be fast enough to do the Canopy style sync, but until we spend a lot of time with it on a scope, I can't be sure. So, to summarize: Now: 4 port jumper configurable positive only, Canopy-Style sync. Jan 1: 4 port Cambium-Style sync, 4 pair Cambium-style pinput, +-48VDC required. Later in Jan/Feb: 4 Port Jumper Confurable plus-or-minus voltage board which *may* have the capability for sync over power for Cambium style sync. One note: Currently, even if you feed these -48VDC, you still need at least one positive power supply for the syncinjector to power things like the GPS module, and the electronics for the control board. I'm still working on fixing this issue, I think I might have it figured out, but I've thought this before. The currently-shipping control boards will always have this requirement, a future revision in where we hope to resolve this.
