BIG BROTHER AFRICA CROSS-MEDIA JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Big Brother Africa is set to hit DStv screens across Africa by the end
of May 2003. Underdog Productions is looking for creative writers to
join their Cross-Media Team. Suitable applicants from all over Africa,
able to join the production team at M-Net's offices in Randburg, should
apply before the end of March 2003.

Cross-Media Content Creator

Do you want to work on the Big Brother Africa project, writing stories,
moderating streaming content, managing interactive media, creating
content for the official website and liasing with viewers, fans and
online community members over a variety of media?

Underdog Productions is looking for several Cross-Media Content Creators
to assist them on BB Africa. You will be part of the Cross-Media Team,
working in an exciting and vibey environment (at M-Net).

The successful candidate should be able to:
. Write and create articles and content for the BB Africa online
presence and cross-media applications;
.       Report on happenings in and around the BB Africa show;
. Efficiently use popular writing (MS Word) and photo-editing
(Photoshop, etc.) software;
. Write and repurpose content for a variety of interactive media
(e.g. DStv enhanced content);
.       Log the activities of the Housemates;
. Manage tight deadlines and diverse content across the different
media;
.       Utilise a web-based user-interface;
. Manage and control the flow of text messages on a "live"
platform - a crucial task with significant responsibilities and
consequences;
.       Reply to comments/criticism flowing in from various sources;
.       Communicate clearly over electronic media (email and phone);
. Select feedback from the public (e.g. online forums) and
moderate some of this content, and regularly report on public feedback
received;
. Thrive on criticism and cope swimmingly with possible abuse from
the public;
. Cope amidst chaos, which includes last-minute briefings,
restrictions on turnaround time, and accurately following instructions;
. Work under the direction of a shift sub-editor and other senior
staff.

General computer literacy and Internet savvy a must, but training on
specific applications will be provided. Applicants must be excellent
English (creative and journalistic) writers, with the ability to create
articles under extremely tight deadlines. Accuracy, self-proofing and
high levels of spelling and grammar proficiencies are vital.

Due to the nature of this project - covering twelve Housemates from
twelve different African countries - job applicants who originate from
African countries, or with extensive knowledge of Africa, will be given
preference. To further allow for the diversity of the production team,
affirmative action will also be a selection criterion. All applicants
will however require valid SA work permits or South African ID
documents.

This is a 4-month (full time) contract, to start on the 17th of May
2003.
(Remuneration will be advised on short listing, and is
industry-related.)

Please email your short CV (no longer than 4 pages), together with a
5-page sample of your creative and non-fiction writing to Leon at
