HERE'S A 501C3 FISCAL SPONSOR FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT APPLY FOR A GRANT AND
NEED A NON-PROFIT. I AM A CONSULTANT TO THIS FOUNDATION. I AM ASKED TO
EVALUATE PROPOSALS FROM THE FILM PRODUCTION PERSPECTIVE. THE BLACK DOCUMENTARY
COLLECTIVE/NY USED THEM TO APPLY FOR (AND OBTAIN) THE GRANT TO TRAVEL TO BRAZIL TO
ATTEND A FESTIVAL THERE.
ALSO, THE INDEPENDENT DOCUMENTARY ASSOCIATION (IDA) ALSO HAS A NON-PROFIT
FOUNDATION FOR MEMBERS' USE IN SEEKING GRANTS. BAD FILMMAKERS-WEST MEMBER TRACY

As a nonprofit, tax exempt media arts center, qualified under section
501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, Calliope Creative Foundation acts as a fiscal
sponsor for charitable contributions from public funding agencies,
foundations and private individuals to independent producers, artists and arts
organizations. Also, technical assistance offers consultations with sponsorship staff
on topics ranging from fundraising strategies and budgeting to organizational
development and grant reporting.
In order to use Calliope Creative Foundation as a sponsoring organization,
the artist is required to complete a two-page form describing the project,
including a budget and funding sources. The application is reviewed by a committee
of the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis. The committee will consider
all submitted applications, but give preference to non-commercial projects
which have the greatest potential benefit from this program.
Calliope Creative Foundation charges fees as follows:
ÿ First $150,000 8%
ÿ $150,000 - $400,000 6%
ÿ Over $400,000 4%
If your project is approved by the committee, you must agree to:
1. Keep track of all expenses connected with the project.
2. Complete and return a project status report to Calliope Creative
Foundation at agreed-upon time intervals.
3. Disburse funds granted to you by Calliope Creative Foundation for the
project in accordance with your approved project budget.
4. Comply with restrictions and requirements imposed on Calliope Creative
Foundation donors, and with government requirements regarding information returns.
5. Abide by all other terms as listed in the Grant Agreement.
