African Cinema Conference presents...

"Pan African Film Festival Initiative and the Global Cinema & Urban
Music Summit - LA
August 17, 18, and 19, 2003".

The Initiative is a vehicle that takes films of the African Diaspora
directly from the festivals and markets and distributes them to
consumers, business and educational markets through broadband and
on-demand services and solutions.  One of our lead programs is the
Global Cinema and Urban Music Summit. As an instrument of Black film
Festival promotions, the primary goal for this Summit is to provide a
cultural perspective on the development and distribution of Urban
Independent Cinema, and deliver a no-holds barred discussion on the
impact that festivals and its films, and on-demand technology have on
today's entertainment urban consumers, advertisers and Hollywood.

The Initiative and Summit will provide distinguished film festival
professionals and decision-makers, opportunities to hear and
participate in discussions pertaining to new market trends which
impact independent festivals - from exhibition, audience development
and retention and new distribution outlets for filmed and music
entertainment content.  There is a critical need within the African
Diaspora for information and resources generated from this type of
"knowledge exchange for film festival owners and industry leaders.

Hosted by the African Marketplace, Inc. in association with digital
content and services companies, iMedia Marketing and NDY Media, this
event is seen as an important contributor to the independent film
festival industry, and is endorsed by the City of Los Angeles's
Cultural Affairs Department.  The LA Summit will be a prelude to
other key markets such as Amman, Jordan, Salvador-Bahia, Brazil,
DuBai; Cannes, France; and the World Cultural Forum in Sao Paulo,
Brazil in 2004.

GCUMS' three day panel discussions and presentations will address the

    * Black Cultural Values in Urban Cinema and Music (positive versus

Previous Global Cinema and Urban Music Events
In December 2002, the Global African Diaspora Cinema Summit presented
its first cinema symposium in partnership with the IV Mercado
Cultural Festival International, an annual cultural market in
Salvador, Bahia Brazil.  The event was enormously successful as it
set the groundwork for future independent film festivals around the
world to host this important component. The IV Festival De Cinema Pan
Africano was presented as part of the Cultural Market, which attracts
more than 190 exhibitors and thousands of visitors from 50 countries
and regions around the world. Sizable delegations from countries
like; the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas are
organized at this event.   The overwhelming response to the first
Global African Diaspora Cinema Summit was a solid indication that IV
Festival De Cinema Pan Africano is becoming a must attend event for
the music, film and the arts professionals.
