SUMMARY

This week, digital economy on Internet Governance headlines as, "OECD on 
October 25 released public comments from 52 individuals and groups on the 
design of new international tax rules for digital firms. The comments, released 
in two documents, Part I

 aim to help an OECD task force prepare an interim report on the issue, to be 
presented to G20 finance ministers in April 2018". Also; A group of WTO 
countries have begun working to create an electronic commerce working group 
under the WTO umbrella that would become a forum for issues such as information 
communication technology infrastructure and services; trade logistics; payment 
solutions; regulatory frameworks; technical assistance; and access to finance. 
Furthemore, the European Union is asking its citizens to help decide on a 
fairer tax regime for large digital corporations that may include a tax on 
their global

as Amazon<https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/Amazon> Google and 
Facebook have often been accused of paying too little tax within the bloc by 
establishing their regional headquarters in low-tax 
countries<https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/low-tax-countries> such as 
Luxembourg and Ireland.

On cyber extremism, russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that law 
enforcement agencies must take tough action against persons and groups using 
the Internet for extremist ends.

On cyber geopolitics, British lawmakers have asked Facebook to release 
information about Russian-linked activity around the U.K.'s European Union 
membership referendum and recent election.

On security, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey are among the nations that have fallen 
victim to Bad Rabbit, which appears to be related to Petya. Russian media 
outlet Interfax confirmed the attack on Tuesday morning, several other outlets 
were reportedly attacked as well.

On data protection, having first raised the issue in 2016, EU regulators have 
now issued a second warning about WhatsApp sharing user data with parent 
company Facebook.
