We should be up and running now.
Both The Munirah Chronicle (Black Historical Events & Facts) and
SpectraLinks (Internet Guide to African Americans) distribution servers
are located at St. Johns University (SJU) in Jamaica New York.
SJU was completely cut off from the Internet since late last Tuesday
(09/11/2001) until yesterday morning Thursday, September 20, 2001. We
were unable to communicate by any of the usual means. The reason given
was that the Internet Service Provider (ISP), Applied Theory, experienced
an outage over the entire region as a side effect of the World Trade
Center (WTC) destruction.
There remains a 48 hour backlog on the distribution server. This means
that I am sitting on 31,000+ messages for 20 discussion groups that won't
be delivered until the server is back in action. The New York area
appears to be experiencing serious degradation in communications, mostly
due to overload. To protect the servers SJU was taken off line.

the network. Keep in mind this is more than one (1) million dollars worth
of equipment and wiring in these photos.

I was shocked that I did not have a backup plan for such as event. After
all, the Internet was originally designed to withstand all outages/attacks
by rerouting Internet traffic.
The flow of information should be back to normal by Monday of next week.
