Today is the day to announce the nominations. But I am having
problems getting in touch with our co-chair, Hartmut. The
co-chairs have to agree on the nominations, and count the votes.
I have not heard from him since March. I have a note into
3 contacts and the secretaries at rzg.mpg.de to see if
they know anything. (They may not see the note till tomorrow.)
Has anyone heard anything?
(It could just be August is vacation time for many of us, and
in the future we should consider moving back the elections
till a month or two.)
Doug,
sorry for the delay, I was in holidays without access to my mail, but now I am
back. I have now followed the last weeks of the mailing list and it seems to me
that there are only three nominations:
Kim Kimball
Jeffrey Hutzelman
Mike Meffie
where Kim still hasn't replied to the question if he would accept his
nomination.
So now we either could follow strictly Simon Wilkinson's proposal and start the
voting with two candidates or we could do it less strictly and wait for an
answer of Kim before starting the voting.
What do you prefer, Doug? I am open for both ways.
Hartmut

http://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-wilkinson-afs3-standardisation-00.txt
defines our election procedures to elect a co-chair. It is my position
that is up for election, as I have the one year term. Hartmut Reuter
is the other co-chair with the 2 year term, due to expire next year.
Schedule:
Nominations open 8/2 - 8/16
Announcement of nominations 8/17
Voting 8-17 - 8/31
Election results 9/7
Please read section 2.2.2 as to who can be nominated, and who can vote.
Send nominations to Hartmut and myself as the vote takers, and we can
contact the potential nominees to make sure they are willing to serve.
As Jeff points out:
The subscriber list is not public; however, any subscriber can obtain a
copy by filling in his username and password near the bottom of the page
at https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/afs3-standardization and
selecting "Visit Subscriber List". Of course, that's as of today. To
build a voter list, you also need to know that there have been no new
subscribers and no one has unsubscribed since April 25, before the start
of the eligibility period.
(You can also get your password sent to you with the "Edit Options")
