You're right, off course. My point is; if AGI would not deal with this level of
abstract, human communication of temporal, emotive states, how would it ever be
taken seriously to solve highly-abstract problems? Poets do indeed have their
say. 😉

Next year, I hope to be living in Panama. From a stronger base, I'm quite
certain I would then be able to start addressing the big issues in life in
terms of a pragmatic AGI application.

For example, using AGI-tech to help understand and mitigate the unfolding,
Fukushima nuclear disaster, which is affecting the globe. There are
life-existential problems to come to grips with and find resolutions for
regarding; health, safety, food and water security, and environmental
contamination. There's more than enough work for all of us interested in the
field and no time to waste. Not all of us would be able to run away to Mars.

I think that is primarily where AGI development should be heading in.

You can overdo the metaphors. Yes. But hey! Poets need a say too. This is the
poetry of a neuroscientist/engineer. You gotta make allowances. :P

There's a serious message here. In addition to Galileo's note there are two
paragraphs (behind the confessionals by Sir CortAlex and Ragy) that nail the
heart of the problem in very specific technical terms, and are the key message.
The rest of it is just a fun container.

This is a real life problem with the science that I'm trying to get people to
recognise and think about.

Everything else is dressing.

I even got colourblind Mary and the Chinese Room in there! And an obscure movie
reference (can anyone see it? A scene from a relatively recent AI movie.
Elephant stamp for the person that gets it!) and a fart joke.

We could use a little humour in this business! There's a truckload of material
in AGI. I've even written a slow blues song about how the same issue appears to
the science of consciousness.

More fun. More progress. :-)

My professor set me on an arduous path to discover Excalibur and draw it from
it's stony face. After looking elsewhere for such a purpose, all over the
hidden secrets and exhausting fumes of the earth, the journey took me to the
Valley of Mirrors. Once there, I learned all about the Vortex of Trust. Unless
one trusts oneself, Excalibur within would never be drawn.

Perhaps, you should stop waiting in hope, and simply follow along on the path
you see set before you. Reality will never be what you imagined it to be, but
instead take form into what unfolds before your eyes as you walk in hope, your
Excalibur in hand, enlightened eyes and ears, wide open.

The Universe would surely connect to such enthralling dots. It's obligated to,
by scientific predicate. Goggle that.

Strange tales.

A most-interesting exorcism.

Thanks. I think. 😋. It was fun to write. I realised I left Ben out of the cast
of luminaries. But then, maybe he got the better deal!

If only the discussion could come to the seious attention of the real life
counterparts. This has gone on long enough!

I remain hopeful.

Cheers,

The Great AGIwar: An Exegesis

By

Dr Colin G. Hales

2000 words of fun with a pointed message on a stick delivered to the door of
the citadel. Think of it as the Turing Test toilet break goes bad.

Enjoy. :-)
