Steve, Sort of blendes together when you go big too. When you go small though communication should improve, no? Intergalactic just doesn't work but inter-cellular might be real efficient verses inter-human scale. A homuncular horde of gut bacteria might be systemically more coherent than a horde of people. And might actually model certain things better like foraging for food and whatnot or symbiotically assist in a multi-level coherence. Perhaps consciousness of a group is related to systemic coherence. And coherence an effectuator of intelligence.
