We are technology (we, humans) our DNA is like a program. We are not self containing intelligent beings, the intelligence is around us, we are just like a neuron and the society is like a brain. I don't like the name Artificial Intelligence because it looks like we are forging it, and it is not natural, but actually, nature are using us to forge it, it is natural. We are just transmitting the energy that we absorbed into more complex and efficient processes for a set of tasks (general or specific). I think that the science will combine all fields (genetics engineering, physics, nano technology, informatics, etc), so that we will not fight against AI, but instead absorb it and make it an organ of our bodies, and also process parts of our bodies into upgraded components, and it just a matter of applying more energy in a certain way to become more compact and concise creatures, and acquire a level 2 or 3 civilization (which uses the energy of a whole galaxy). I believe that we are programmed to evolve into universal citizens and unless the planet get destroyed, we will achieve it, soon or later.
